Now under the management of PGA Golf Professional Brad Westfall, Bel Meadow
Golf Club is known by many as one of the most challenging Public Golf Courses
in West Virginia. The 18 hole Championship Course, designed
by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., first opened for play in 1965.
Bel Meadow hosted the West Virginia Open in 1967 and 1971.
Both tournaments were won by Sam Snead, who said of the course: "It's
a little tough for the average player, and if I was a local player I would
play the front twice. To heck with losing all those balls on
the back nine."
The course features 51 sand traps and large, undulating, and elevated bent
grass greens. Water comes into play on 12 of the 18 holes.
One of the highlights at Bel Meadows, is the spacious banquet and catering
facility with seating for up to 300, plus a 3,000 square foot deck, overlooking
the golf course.
